Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I set up my own league?

You can set up and create a new league here or by selecting Create League under the Cog.

  • How many players can I have in my league?

There is no limit and we’d recommend at least five players per league to maximise the Predikta experience.

  • How can I join an existing league?

If you would like to join an existing league, you can send a request to be part of the action here or by selecting Join Leagues under the Cog.

  • Can I play in more than one Predikta league?

Yes, you can play in as many Predikta leagues as you wish. You only need to submit your predictions once and your position in your various leagues will be calculated for you.

  • What is the overall Predikta league?

The overall Predikta League is a league of the entire Predikta community.

  • What is the League of Leagues?

This is a league table of all the leagues playing Predikta calculated using the average points of each league. Average Predikta points will be calculated by dividing the total number of points earned by the league by the total number of registered Predikta players in that league. A league will be defined as a league if 6 or more players predict regularly throughout the Tournament.

  • What age do I need to be to play Predikta?

You need to be at least 18 years old to play Predikta.

  • Which matches are included in Predikta?

Predikta chooses the 10 most popular matches every week. These are usually the 10 Premier League matches but on those occasions where there are fewer than 10 matches Predikta will select another match/es – usually from the Championship. Some weekends could include international matches and domestic cup matches.

  • Is there a cut off time by which my predictions need to be submitted?

You can predict anytime up to the kick-off time of a particular match. Once the match has started, no more predictions can be accepted for that match.

  • Can I change my predictions once submitted?

You can change your predictions as often as you like up until the kick-off of each match. Once the match has started however, no more predictions can be accepted for that match.

  • How do the Predikta points work?

Points are awarded based on the accuracy of your predictions as follows:
Correct result: 1 point. You get 1 point for correctly predicting the result of a match, e.g. if you pick Arsenal to win and they do win, you will receive 1 point.
Goal Difference: 2 points. You get 2 points for correctly predicting both the result and goal difference, e.g. if you pick Arsenal to win 2-0 and they actually win 3-1, you will receive 2 points.
Spot-on: 3 points. You get 3 points for correctly predicting the result spot-on, e.g. if you pick Arsenal to win 3-1 and they do win 3-1, you will receive 3 points.

Select one match as your Banker and get double points for this match. Your points will be updated live as the scores change in real life.

  • How does Predikta separate two players with the same amount of total points?

If two or more players score the same number of points, their league position is determined by the following process called the Predikta Separata:

First by the person who has scored the most points for correct ‘result.’
if it’s still a tie, then the person who has scored the most points for ‘spot on.’
if it’s still a tie, then the person who has scored the most points for ‘goal difference.’
    if it’s still a tie, then it’s a tie!

  • What is the Banker?

Select one of your predictions as your banker to get double points, i.e. a spot-on prediction will earn you six points instead of the usual three.

  • How many points do I get if I have forgotten to predict?

If you forget to submit your predictions, you receive the same score as the person in your league who came last for the week. If you play in more than one league, it will be the lowest score.

  • How do I know how many points I have scored?

Your points, leagues and bets status are updated on your Dashboard about 3 minutes after:
    End of 1st half
    End of the match

  • What if a match is cancelled?

If a match is cancelled (or abandoned after it has commenced) and the cancelled match is not your banker then no points can be scored from this match. If the cancelled match happens to be your banker, you will be responsible for selecting an alternative banker from the remaining open matches at the time of cancellation. If you do not select an alternative banker before the last match (or set of matches) kicks off, you will be assigned the last match as your banker.

  • What if a knockout match goes to extra time?

For knock-out matches where two teams are tied after 90 minutes, the final score will be deemed to be the score after extra time (i.e. after 120 minutes but before a penalty shootout). If the match is decided by a penalty shootout, Predikta will regard the match as a draw, with the score after 120 minutes representing the 'final score'.

  • How many points do I get if I join Predikta mid-season?

You will start with the same amount of points as the person currently coming last in the league you join.

  • How can I see how many points others in my league have scored?

If you click on another player’s name in the league table you will be able to see what that player has predicted for the week. This information is updated live and is visible as soon as a match has kicked-off. You will not be able to see what that player has predicted for matches that have not started yet. If you click on a player’s name when the league table is being viewed in the Season mode, you will be able to see how that player has earned his/her points for the season.

  • What is the Judas Index?

You have the dishonour of being labelled a 'Judas' if the football team you support wins or draws after you predicted that they would lose. The Judas Index does not affect your points but it quite rightly embarrasses you in front of your competitors. You can view who is on the Judas Index for the current week and also look at who has been a Judas most often throughout the season in the Anorak section

  • Can I choose to send banter directly to another league member rather than posting it on the banter board?

Yes, you can use the Banter button to boast, insult or stay in touch with other league members in two ways. Firstly, you can choose to post your banter to the Banter Board. This will display your message on the Board and be visible to all players in your league. Secondly, you can select to send emails directly to members of your league.

  • How does Predikta select the matches to include in THE BANKERS AKKA?

Predikta carefully crafts an accumulator for you based upon the following algorithm. It first selects your Banker, includes the team you support (if you have predicted them to either win or draw) and then adds the matches where you have predicted the highest goal difference – in order of the size of the goal difference. You are usually presented with a 5 leg accumulator but in some cases it may be less if some matches have already kicked-off.

  • How does the SAFETY NET bet work?

Sometimes, when you take an accumulator, one or two teams can let you down, but you are never sure which ones. So, the SAFETY NET bet protects your accumulator regardless of which team lets you down with built-in cover. Depending upon the level of cover you choose to take Predikta will divide your stake between a straight accumulator bet and the number of covering accumulator bets you have chosen as follows:

You are usually presented with a 7 leg accumulator but in some cases it may be less if some matches have already kicked-off.

  • How does the WISDOM OF THE CROWD bet work?

Predikta combines your predictions with the Wisdom of the Predikta Crowd to provide you with an 8 leg accumulator - but this may be less if some matches have already kicked-off. For those matches where your prediction differs from the majority of the Predikta community (the Wisdom of the Predikta Crowd), Predikta will suggest two results for that leg – your prediction and that of the Crowd. For each match you can select up to three results (Home, Draw or Away), so if you’re unsure add more results or click on the selected result to remove it from your accumulator. You win your accumulator if you correctly predict the result of every leg.

  • How does the traffic light system work in the AKKA TRAKKA?

The AKKA TRAKKA will allow you to track the progress of your accumulator in real time. A traffic light system is used where Red signifies that this leg of your accumulator has let you down and Green means that your selected result is correct. For live matches there is also an Orange light. This applies to those matches where your result is currently not correct, but one goal will make the result favourable.

  • What happens in The Predikta Pool if I have predicted that a team will score 6 goals or more?

When a Predikta player has predicted that a team will score 6 or more goals, i-Pools (our Pools partner) will for the purposes of the Predikta Pool enter this prediction as 6 or more goals.

If you wish you can send a reminder via the Banter button to those Slackers who have not yet predicted, but remember that Predikta sends an automatic reminder to all those who have not yet predicted on a Friday and Saturday morning.

In the event of a dispute, the data provided by Ableson Info will be the deciding factor. If Ableson Info does not provide the relevant data, Predikta reserves the right to determine the results as it sees fit, according to the official result published by the Press Association (PA) or any other data it may choose to rely on.
